Welcome to my blog!

This blog tells my experience with buying a house in Dublin, Ireland, and renovating it.

I wanted to share everything I learned along the way, my misadventures and any tips and tricks!

Drimnagh - End of Terrace - 2 Bed / 1 Bath - €200,000

Type of Property: End of Terrace
Location: Drimnagh
Rooms: 2 Bedrooms and 1 Bathroom
Asking price: €200,000, the current offer is €205,000 (there are currently 2 bidders, and there were many people viewing the house at this second viewing. This makes me think that there'll probably be several counter offers).
Age of the property: 70 years (Built in the 1940s - 50s)
Floor area: 64,7 square meters
Public transportation: 1 Bus line (40 - 50 min by bus from my office (lots of traffic!), an hour on foot).

NOTES: Such a pretty house, I've always had a preference for bricks, and this house is truly lovely with its light brown walls and cherry-tree brown window frames and door. It's also very well maintained inside, with a cozy living room overlooking a very well manicured back garden.

But here come the pain points: the kitchen furniture and appliances are organized with an unusual layout, with the oven and cooktop in one corner of the kitchen, while the sink and the washing machine are in the opposite corner.

There is only one tiny bathroom.. with the tiniest sink I've ever seen.. above the bathtub. Needless to say we'd need to renovate the entire bathroom. And I'll always wonder why they thought it was a good idea to put the sink over the bathtub...

Anyway, considering the price, the bidders and the renovation work.. this house is not for us.

Finglas - End of Terrace - 2 Bed / 2 Bath - €185,000

Glasnevin - Apartment - 2 Bed / 1 Bath - €199,950
