NOTES: The first thing I noticed about this house is that its facade was recently renovated: the current owner covered it with a layer of insulation and a smooth layer of mortar, as to give it a more sophisticated look than the usual 'council' terraced houses in the area.
The second thing? There is a small kid next door. Kids are a big no-no for us. Of course we might have to deal with kids playing in the streets (which, paradoxically, it's a thing I look for when viewing houses because if there are kids running around unbridled the area is likely to be safe), however, having a kid right next door is not ideal at all.
The third thing? The smell in the house, which I intrinsically associate with very old people. A mist of stale air, mold and death.
Don't get me wrong, the house wasn't necessarily bad per se, and the price is very appealing (especially because the current offer is so low), however, there is a lot of work to be done. The walls (and, I dare say, the electric wires) need to be restored and the floors completely replaced.
The current owner built an extension in the back where they placed the kitchen (which needs to be entirely renovated), creating two living rooms on the ground floor, with the extension's roof visible from one of the upstrair bedrooms.
While I'm sure that with some care and A LOT of work this house would be very nice in the end, I'm not sure that the financial investment needed wouldn't surpass that of buying directly a newer house.
