Welcome to my blog!

This blog tells my experience with buying a house in Dublin, Ireland, and renovating it.

I wanted to share everything I learned along the way, my misadventures and any tips and tricks!

Finglas - Terraced - 3 Bed / 2 Bath - €150,000

Type of Property: Mid terrace
Location: Finglas East
Rooms: 3 Bedrooms and 1 Bathroom
Asking price: €150,000
Age of the property: n/a
Floor area: 94 square meters
Public transportation: A couple of bus lines, but I would need to walk 10 min to the bus stop.

NOTES: This house is a true surprise on the inside: it is very modern and it has a huge extension in the back! The ground floor presents an open plan kitchen, dinning room and living room, and the extension in the back adds an extra bathroom and bedroom.

The reason for this open plan + extra bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, is because the previous owner was a very old lady, with mobility issues. When the old lady passed away, the daughter decided to sell the house because she lives abroad.

Upstairs the master bedroom is fairly large and the family bathroom is well maintained (with wood panelling). While there are some renovation works needed (the downstairs bathroom needs to be completely renovated and, likewise, the upstairs bedrooms, which still present older carpets and fireplaces), the house is in very good condition.

I also spoke with one of the neighbors, and he reassured me that this is a very quiet area: there is a school in front of the house, but the lessons end at 2pm, and there is only an uptick in traffic during the morning 'drop off time' (9am) and 'lunch pick up' time (1-2pm). There is also a second school down the road, so he suggested taking the bus to the city center before or after the busy hours.

While it's a great house, the outside it's not very appealing, and.. it just didn't make an impression on me.
